There are many tools and weapons that can be used to a character's advantage. While most take the form of some sort of technique or technology or even some form of equipment like a weapon or armor there are also those who deign to use animals to get the job done. These animals can be either regular pets or combat pets.[break][break]
There are two types of pets and to make it easier to talk about the two of them we will call one regular pets and the other the combat pets. The difference between combat and regular pets are pretty much what their names imply. Where the regular types are just regular animals that the user has trained to fight with during their lifespan. This has benefits and drawbacks of its own but we will get into that later.[break][break]
The combat type are pets that have been bred to aid in combat for many generations and they usually belong to a group or family that has mastered the art of breeding and training them. Like regular types, these have advantages and disadvantages that we will be getting into a bit later.
An animal companion that follows a character around. Most commonly viewed as an animal friend in some cases these friends have minimal combat abilities. They are limited to the physiology of the animal. IE Bears have claws that can scar stone, not cut through it. They can be taught to use weapons like swords, though the process does take longer than it would with combat types. As far as quirks go they are one of your pets are allowed to have a quirk if your character does not.
Combat pets are different in the fact that they have been trained in combat and breed to fight alongside their character for many years now making easier to fight along. They can have techniques of their own unlike regular types however, like all domesticated animals they loose their edge. That being said, the animals are limited to their physiology, as such a bird has no fist, so it wouldn't be able to punch. The same rules for quirks apply as the regular type.

Regular Pets
Just cuz they don't have combat in there name doesn't mean they can't fight

Combat Pets
They are still animals just domesticated and really good at fighting
